In time for the 60th anniversary of the first ascent of the highest mountain of the Earth - the Mount Everest, we are glad to announce the Mount Everest Geocoin in honour of Edmung Hillary & Tenzing Norgay. They reached the top on 29th May 1953. Hillarys first words after his return were: “Well George, we finally knocked the bastard off.”
On the frontside you can see Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay on top of Mount Everest. Since no real photo exists of Tenzing Norgay on top (since he was not able to take a photo with the camera), this is only an illustration.
The backside of the Mount Everest Geocoin shows explorer's tour to the top and several camps during the trip (of course more than just 2 people were needed for the whole excursion)
A Geocache was hidden on the Mount Everest in 2005 (7.570 m - GCP7JV). Unfortunately this has already been archived yet.
