The 2026 Blue Switch Butterfly Effect Geocoin highlights one of the most important moments in geocaching history: “Blue Switch Day.” On May 2, 2000, GPS accuracy was improved for civilian use – the key moment that made geocaching possible.
The unique butterfly design with a hinged mechanism represents the “butterfly effect” – how small actions can have a major impact. Its detailed artwork connects the geocaching gameboard with the satellite technology behind it.
With its high-quality finish and innovative design, this geocoin is a standout piece for any collection and also perfect for sending out on a journey.
