About Pi-Day
Every year the 14th. March is being celebrated by science savvy people in honour of number PI, because the American data format for this day reads 3 /14.
Pi=3.14159265358979323846...
Additionally to that 14th. March is the birthday of the famous Physician and father of the theory of relativity: Albert Einstein (* 14th March 1879 in Ulm, † 18th April in Princeton, New Jersey).
The number Pi belongs to the most important and most interesting numbers of the universe.
It was already known in the ancient world and sustains of the Greek letter Pi, the intial letter of the Greek word for Perimetros (extent).
Pi describes the proportion of the extent of a cirtle to its diameter, or the area of a circle with radius = 1.
Pi is a real, irrational and transcendental number.
Pi comes across in many scientistic fields (also outside the geometry), such as the uncertainty relation or the possibly nicest formula in mathematics: The Euler equations.
These are enough reasons to honour this special date and the number Pi with its own Geocoin, since the 14th March 2015 is a very special day.
If you use the date (14th March 2015) + the time 9:26:53h on this day, you can speak about an "once in a life" date:
3 / 14 / 15 - 9 : 26 :53
Pi = 3.141592653....
The geocoin is delivered in a nice carton:
The geocoin is of corse trackable at www.geocaching.com. You find the tracking number on the coin edge
